The Engagement

Two separate sessions, one continuous story. The first was a proposal — intimate, unscripted, and over in a moment. The second was a pre-wedding shoot months later, giving the couple something lasting to mark the chapter between yes and the wedding day.

The Proposal — Wildseed Cafe, 28 June 2025

Wildseed Cafe at The Summerhouse provided the setting — a glass igloo space surrounded by gardens, warm with fairy lights and the kind of atmosphere that makes a moment feel deliberate. An Insta360 camera with a directional microphone was set up discreetly inside the igloo to capture the proposal as it happened — unposed, uninterrupted, and entirely real. Photography coverage ran alongside, capturing the moment and the immediate aftermath. The proposal video was edited and delivered as a keepsake — a record of the exact moment, exactly as it was.

The Pre-Wedding Shoot — Chinese Garden, Jurong, 8 February 2026

Chinese Garden offered a setting that rewards a photographer who knows where to look. Research was done ahead of the shoot — social media, photography forums, reference images — to identify the key locations worth prioritising. But the session itself was largely intuitive, with the route shaped by what the light, the space, and the couple's energy suggested in the moment. Some spots were requested, some were chosen on the day, and a few were happy accidents.

The moon gate — framing both of them face to face against the garden canopy beyond — was one of those moments where composition, light, and feeling align at once. The Japanese garden section, with its sculpted pines and warm morning backlight, provided a softer counterpoint.

The session ran 3.5 hours. 450 images were captured. 52 were selected, edited, and delivered — used in part as digital wedding invitations sent to family and friends.

Deliverables

Proposal photographs, edited proposal video, and pre-wedding photographs for personal use and wedding invitations.
